Please read these terms carefully before using the IMTPA website or becoming a member.
1.Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the IMTPA website at www.imtpa.org (the "Site") or by becoming a member of the Illinois Massage Therapy Professional Association ("IMTPA," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Site or apply for membership.
These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and members of IMTPA.
2.About IMTPA
IMTPA is a professional association organized under the laws of the State of Illinois. Its purpose is to advance and support the massage therapy profession in Illinois through advocacy, education, professional standards, and community collaboration.
IMTPA is not a licensing authority, regulatory body, or governmental agency. Membership in IMTPA does not confer, modify, or replace any professional license required under Illinois law.
3.Website Use
You agree to use this Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others. You agree not to:
- Use the Site in any way that violates applicable federal, state, or local laws or regulations
- Transmit any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising or promotional material
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site or its related systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Site
- Collect or harvest any personally identifiable information from the Site
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity
IMTPA reserves the right to terminate your access to the Site at any time, without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or is otherwise harmful to IMTPA, its members, or third parties.
4.Membership
IMTPA offers several membership tiers, each with its own eligibility requirements and annual dues. By applying for membership, you represent that:
- The information you provide during registration is accurate and complete
- You meet the eligibility requirements for the membership tier you have selected
- You will maintain compliance with all applicable Illinois licensing requirements where relevant to your membership tier
IMTPA reserves the right to verify membership eligibility and to deny or revoke membership at its discretion, including for conduct that is inconsistent with the association's values, mission, or these Terms.
Member directory: Professional and Founding Professional members may be listed in IMTPA's public member directory. By joining at these tiers, you consent to having your name, credentials, city, and contact information displayed in that directory. You may request removal by contacting info@imtpa.org.
5.Payments & Billing
Membership dues are processed through our third-party membership management platform, Joinit (joinit.com). By completing membership enrollment, you authorize Joinit to charge your payment method for the applicable annual dues.
- Automatic renewal: All memberships renew automatically on an annual basis unless cancelled prior to the renewal date
- Cancellation: You may cancel automatic renewal at any time through your Joinit member portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current membership period
- Refunds: Membership dues are generally non-refundable. Requests for exceptions may be submitted to info@imtpa.org and will be considered on a case-by-case basis at IMTPA's sole discretion
- Price changes: IMTPA reserves the right to change membership dues. Members will be notified of any price changes prior to their renewal date
IMTPA does not store payment card information. All payment processing is handled by Joinit in accordance with their terms and security standards.
6.Content & Intellectual Property
All content on this Site — including text, graphics, logos, images, documents, and page layouts — is the property of IMTPA or its content suppliers and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.
You may view, download, and print content from this Site for your personal, non-commercial use only, provided you:
- Do not modify or alter the content
- Retain all copyright and proprietary notices
- Do not use the content in any way that suggests IMTPA endorses your use
Any other use of Site content without the prior written permission of IMTPA is prohibited. To request permission, contact info@imtpa.org.
7.Disclaimers
The information on this Site is provided for general informational purposes only. IMTPA makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding:
- The accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information on the Site

IMTPA is not a law firm and does not provide legal, regulatory, medical, or financial advice. Nothing on this Site constitutes professional advice of any kind. You should consult a qualified professional for advice specific to your circumstances.
The Site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. IMTPA does not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
8.Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, IMTPA and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Site or your membership, including but not limited to:
- Loss of revenue, data, or business opportunities
- Errors or omissions in any content on the Site
- Conduct of any member or third party
In no event shall IMTPA's total liability to you exceed the amount of membership dues paid by you in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
9.Privacy
Your use of this Site and your membership with IMTPA are also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review the Privacy Policy to understand our practices regarding the collection and use of your personal information.
10.Changes to These Terms
IMTPA reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site or your membership after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
